Àgò, word which names the first track of TransmutAção ”Transmutation”, (Natura Musical), lets it self in at the sound of the drums of Alexandre Garnizé. The time has come to BNegão & Seletores de Frequência shoot their new visions and sonorities in another chapter of its history within the universal black music.
The third album of the group’s career is powerful in rhetoric and it presents the upshot of some new sonorous alchemy by Seletores de Frequência “Frequency&Selectors”.
“Dias da Serpente” “Serpent& Days”, a Dub powered by the percussion announces: “bright days are coming, dark days remain”.
The Rap and Funk crossover (and intrinsic trait of BNegão & Seletores de Frequência) is in “No Momento (100%)” “At the Moment (100%)” and “Mundo Tela” “Screen World”.
The unprecedented combination of Surf Rock with respect to the Ethiopian genius Mulatu Astatke, creator of Ethio Jazz, is called “Surfin’ Astatke” “Surfin’Astatke” (written by trumpeter Pedro Selector) and makes an instrumental
passage for the next two Samba tracks that follow: The Jazz-Samba “No Amanhecer” “At Dawn” and a Gafieira* version of “Fita Amarela” “Yellow Ribbon” from Samba composer Noel Rosa.
That is not all there is to it. BNegão (assisted by producer Maga Bo) brought in some unexpected future beats and joined them to the ancestral rhythms of Ciranda* in “No Ar(Convocacao)” “In the Air (Assembly)” in which the beat asks you to dance making the energy go around. “Giratória”(Sua Direção)” “Rotative (Your direction)” is the last petard from this dance before the track that closes the album: “Nós (Ponto de Mutação)” Us (Mutation Point)” a Dub that calls for a mind depressurization and pays tribute to the greatest influences (philosophical, musical and spiritual) of the rapper such as Darcy Ribeiro and Tom Zé.
The ideas are in the air.
Music is alive and throbbing to the beat of change: TransmutAção “Transmutation” is the keyword.
“TransmutAtion” the act of transmute, change, the exchange of outer negative energy into positive inner energy.
*Gafieira: traditional partner samba dance.
*Ciranda: common Brazilian round or rhymed song, also a dance round.
